Truck driver convicted of death Kato (12) appeals
The girl was on her way to school by bicycle. When the driver wanted to overtake her, she hooked her bicycle into her friend’s and ended up under the wheels of the truck.
The driver received a suspended prison sentence of six months, a driving ban of one year, half of which was effective, and a fine of 4,000 euros. He himself asked for the acquittal because he did not hit the girl. His lawyer pleaded that he could safely overtake the cycling girls at that place and that he is therefore not to blame for Kato’s death.
