After it was not possible to go out for a long time due to corona, the standards and values in nightlife would have shifted a bit. “Since March, we have been hearing more and more disturbing signals from parties that monitor the entertainment area,” Mayor Depla explained on Wednesday at the presentation of the new house rules. “It’s about shorter fuses, more aggression and increasing drug use among young people.”

But what do those house rules say? For example, that people must identify themselves, that weapons and drugs are prohibited, that discrimination is not tolerated and that visitors who are drunk or under the influence of drugs are refused at the door.

In addition, the catering businesses also want to point out the so-called entertainment etiquette. They do this on the basis of several slogans. Think ‘Closing time, it’s getting late. Keep it cozy, even when you go home” and “Keep it real, take it with you: Your own valid ID”.

And that’s not all. For example, Happy Parents evenings are organized to make parents aware of their role, hosts walk through the center and the municipality is investigating how lighting can help guide pedestrians out of the city after closing time.
