Triple success for German tobogganers

The German lugers achieved a triple success at the World Cup in Whistler, Canada.

The victory went to Julia Taubitz, who as defending champion extended her lead in the overall World Cup. The 27-year-old prevailed on Saturday ahead of world champion Anna Berreiter and U23 world champion Merle Fräbel.

From the point of view of national coach Norbert Loch’s team, the German women made the weekend perfect: On Friday, Max Langenhan had already achieved victories in the men’s singles as well as the doubles Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt and Jessica Degenhardt/Cheyenne Rosenthal.

At the season opener in Lake Placid last weekend, the German women missed out on victory in the main race; Taubitz came second in the USA behind the Austrian Madeleine Egle. However, she then took revenge in the sprint: the final short race went to the German.
