Still without professional use
In the search for new talent, Manchester City has apparently once again become the focus of Borussia Dortmund. How “The Guardians” reported, the black and yellow advertise for the services of U21 captain Shea Charles. The 19-year-old has been training with the Skyblues since 2011, but the defensive midfielder, who can also play as a right and central defender, is still waiting for his professional debut. In the Champions League round of 16 at RB Leipzig, he was at least part of the squad.

In addition to the BVB, whose interest Fabrizio Romano had also reported, the British daily newspaper names Leeds United and FC Brentford as other candidates for Charles, who was born in Manchester. The right-footed player, who took on Dortmund in the UEFA Youth League this season, does not feature for England’s youth side, opting instead for Northern Ireland, where he has made six appearances for their senior team.
When asked about the first BVB rumors, Charles had not let himself be looked at too much in the cards. “I don’t know too much about it myself,” he told theManchester Evening News“. “I’m trying to focus on City at the moment.” A loan transfer is “always a possibility”. The TM users then speculated that a loan with an option to buy or a purchase with an option to buy back could be a possibility.
Purchase with RKO. That could also be interesting for City to let him go and it would at least be worth something for us to take the player to the next level. …
Charles, whose contract at Man City runs until 2027, could aim for a similar path to Jadon Sancho (23) and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (18) if he moves to Dortmund. Sancho came to BVB from the U18s in 2017 and matured there into a top performer whose market value was now estimated at 130 million euros. Bynoe-Gittens decided in 2020 to leave Man City’s youth team to take the next step at Revierklub. He made the leap to the pros via the U19s, for whom he has now played 23 times. During this time, he increased his market value to 14 million euros, making him one of the twelve most valuable U18 talents in the world.
