Magnus Elbaek Ditlev is the name of the winner of the Challenge Roth 2022. Last year’s winner Patrick Lange is second, Jan Frodeno gave up running.

The Dane Magnus Elbaek Ditlev has won a long-distance triathlon for the first time in his career. At the Challenge Roth, the classic in Middle Franconia, he won in the end in 7:35:48 hours ahead of last year’s winner Patrick Lange.

Jan Frodeno gets out of the comeback

Jan Frodeno, three-time Ironman Hawaii winner and 2016 Roth winner, made his comeback from injury at the Challenge. After 2.2 kilometers on the running track, he had to end the competition prematurely because of pain.

New star in long-distance triathlon?

The race in Roth could be the starting signal for a great triathlon career. Ditlev has won two middle-distance competitions so far, and he celebrated his first victory in a race over the Ironman distance.

Just nine seconds past the course record

Ditlev missed the Roth course record by just nine seconds. Also because he only walked comfortably towards the finish line in the last few meters. Jan Frodeno has held the challenge record of 7:35:39 hours since his victory in 2016. It was a world record six years ago.
