Exciting women’s triathlon sprint on Saturday morning: Laura Lindemann triumphed in the end with an impressive run.

In the end, Annika Koch couldn’t shake Laura Lindemann’s power when running. The favorite athlete from the Triathlon Team Potsdam won the German championship title in the sprint triathlon on Saturday morning (06/25/2022).

Lindemann won in a time of 57:02 minutes over the distance of 750 meters swimming, 20 kilometers cycling and five kilometers running ahead of Annika Koch from Team Buschhütten (57:11) and her Potsdam club colleague Nina Eim (57:36).

“The audience carried me to victory here,” the winner cheered after the race.

Top group on the bike

The fact that the power density in the women’s elite has moved closer together was already evident after the swim, when a whole group of athletes got out of the water almost simultaneously. In cycling, Lisa Tertsch and Annabell Knoll initially gained a small lead, but were caught up by a group. From then on, a leading group of eleven with all the favorites pulled away. It was clear that the eventual winner would also come from this group.

Lindemann pulls away in the run

Naturally, the decision was made on the fly. Laura Lindemann – known as a tremendously strong runner – soon moved to the top. Only Koch from Buschhütten could follow her, who only had to pay tribute to the dominance of her rival in the last kilometer. Lindemann didn’t allow it to sprint to the finish, but pulled away decisively beforehand. The third championship title for the native Berliner after 2017 and 2019 was the deserved reward for an outstanding performance.
