Lukas “Wühler” Thiemann smiled confidently, but you could still see his relief: His Trelleborg team beat New Holland 3:1 in the World Championship final of the Farming Simulator League. It is the third championship title in a row for the team from the Swedish plastics manufacturer of the same name.
“The pressure was there,” said team captain Wühler in an interview after the close match. Trelleborg started the final game with a win, but New Holland managed a surprisingly dominant equalizer. After a tough start on lap three, Trelleborg took the lead in the final meters.
With the momentum on their side, the team then swept their competitor off the digital field. “Respect to New Holland, they really pushed Trelleborg to the limit”, commentator Stefan Wagnetz praised the performance of the runner-up.
Farming Simulator League: Equal duel in the final
Trelleborg was the clear favourite. The world champion and table leader won five of the six tournaments of the season. Ironically, New Holland ruined the perfect season. The team defeated Trelleborg in the semi-finals of September’s tournament to secure the title and move into the World Championship in second place. There, both teams plowed through the group stage undefeated.
The Farming Simulator League has been taking place since 2019 and is hosted by developer Giants Software. In the matches, two teams harvest wheat from a field, produce bales of straw and bring them to a barn. The team with the most points after 15 minutes wins.
