The municipality softened the ground around the tree and constructed a new cycle path on the other side of the tree. The cycle path will therefore move and De Lijn will move the nearby bus shelter next week.
Jan Seynhaeve, mayor: “The new cycle path not only became safer because of the movement to the other side of the tree on the one hand and because it is no longer covered by tree roots on the other, but the cycle path was also made wider, from 1.1 m to 1.75 m. Due to all these adjustments, it was necessary to take up two parking spaces on Guldenbergplein.”
