Aarre Elo, the long-term program manager of YLE, has been put to rest in the grave. Elo died at the age of 78 in February of a stroke in a nursing home.

Elo’s daughters Maria Jungner and Saara Elo posted pictures of his father’s funeral on Friday night on Instagram. The pictures show a grave covered with flowers. Jungner has marked his picture as the location of the Hietaniemi cemetery in Helsinki.

– The sun is setting, the shadows are already getting longer, it’s time to say goodbye and say goodbye, Jungner write next to the picture.

A moment later, Jungner released another picturethis time from his father’s grave coffin.

– Today has been a day of tears. But also gratitude, memories and dear friends. Our dear father, grandfather, priest, Arkka, Arska, Treasure were blessed on the last journey. According to the father’s wishes, the occasion was “light and supple rather than heavy and solemn”. I hope we succeeded in fulfilling that wish, he writes.

– Thank you to all of your father’s friends, loved ones and loved ones for this day. We walked it together – smiling through tears at all the wonderful memories we fortunately have so much.

– We live in shocking times – it feels like the whole world has gone crazy. Yet, just today, I want to say that every life is unique and precious. It must be protected – with love, always.

– Dad, I miss you so much. And part of me can’t comprehend that we don’t see anymore. But your warmth, your humor, the twinkling of your eyes and most of all your love. It will never disappear. It is always present to me. That’s something I can’t explain. I know you walk next to me now and always. I am grateful for this day. We got to accompany you with the closest people you had a lot. The occasion was full of warmth, intimacy, tears, music, spirituality and memories. And your spirit and presence. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who was involved in escorting Dad, Saara Elo writes in its own publication.

Aarre Elo suffered from aphasia in the latter years and completely lost his ability to speak.
