Aarre Elo has died at the age of 87.
Long-term program director of YLE Aarre Elo is dead.
The matter was confirmed to Iltalehti by her daughter Maria Jungner.
Elo died of a seizure in a nursing home. He contracted aphasia in the latter years and completely lost his ability to speak.

Elo has been one of the most significant influences in Finnish TV entertainment since the 1960s.
One of his best-known programs was the current talk show Extension.
Elo’s long-term colleagues were Jukka Virtanen and Matti Kuusla, ie the VEK Group. Its best-known program was The Snow Castle Comedy, which was awarded Best Entertainment Program at the 1965 Montreu’x International Television Festival.

Later, Elo was involved in televising major sporting events, such as the Olympics, in Finland.
Elo also worked in the music industry, and he worked among other things Olavi Virran, Laila Kinnusen and Pirkko Mannolan with.
Elo retired from the position of TV program director in the early 1990s.
