The Swedish national ice hockey team announces that they have stamped two new World Cup passports. Tre Kronor’s defense gets a nice boost from the NHL when he plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs Timothy Liljegren heading to his first adult world championships.

The 24-year-old who shoots from the right scored 18 points in 67 games in the NHL last season. Toronto’s season ended last week when they fell to the Florida Panthers in the second round of the playoffs.

Another one who got his competitive stamp is the goalkeeper Jakob Johansson.

Sweden still leaves the gate open for Liljegren’s teammate to William Nylander, who has received permission from Toronto to go to the Games. The 27-year-old winger has another consecutive 80-point regular season behind him.

Tre Kronor has won all of its group stage games. The team’s tournament continues on Thursday against Hungary.
