Travelers react with resignation to canceled trains: ‘It is the way it is’

In the new timetable, the NS accidentally removed two extra sprinters on the route between Oss and Den Bosch in the morning rush hour. Fewer trains run from Rosmalen station. On Monday mornings it is busy, and the trains that do run are full. “I have to get up earlier and plan better,” says a student at the train station in Rosmalen.

At Rosmalen station, there is a resigned response to the fact that fewer trains are running. “It will be necessary. If there are not enough staff, they will have to cancel,” says a young train passenger who is waiting for the train. “I have to plan better now that there are fewer trains. And I have to get up earlier to get to school on time.” Another boy says he can manage his own time. “I have flexible working hours, which makes a difference. Although I have to say that the trains are sometimes very full.”

Annoying for people who depend on public transport.”

“It is what it is,” says one woman. “It’s especially annoying for people who depend on public transport. I don’t have to take working hours into account. I travel for pleasure.” Another woman says she is not much bothered by the canceled trains. “I do think that the trains are often delayed. I am conscious of going to the station earlier to get to work on time.”

“It’s very annoying that fewer trains are running,” says a young student. “I depend on public transport. I have to go to Eindhoven today. I will arrive there too late now. I have to plan again. Either I am five minutes late for school or I am twenty minutes early.”

The NS has come up with an emergency solution. For example, two intercity trains will stop at Den Bosch East and Oss West this time. Buses are used between Rosmalen and Den Bosch.
