Tour operators TUI and Sunweb have registered more bookings for this Christmas holiday than last year. Sunweb recorded an increase of more than 20 percent, while TUI registered 12 percent more bookings for flying holidays.

A large majority (61 percent) of TUI travelers fly south during their holidays. Half of travelers choose Spain, which remains by far the most popular destination. Egypt, Cape Verde, Tunisia and the Dominican Republic are also in the top five.

Only 16 percent of those who booked with TUI opted for a ski holiday. Two-thirds of skiers go to the French Alps, which has been the destination of choice for winter sports enthusiasts for years. More than one in ten customers booked a city trip. TUI travelers spend an average of 1,892 euros per person on a flying holiday and 693 euros on a skiing holiday.

Sunweb recorded an increase of 21 percent for winter sports holidays and 25 percent for sun holidays compared to last year. The most popular destinations for the travel organization for the Christmas holidays are the Canary Islands, Egypt and some French ski areas (La Plagne, Les Deux Alpes, Les Sybelles and Val Thorens).
