TRATON share falls: war in Ukraine forces TRATON to issue earnings warning

The SDAX company announced on Wednesday that earnings before interest and taxes adjusted for special effects should only account for five to six percent of sales. The Munich had previously promised five to seven percent. “The war is having a major impact on the TRATON Group,” said Chief Financial Officer Annette Danielski.

The company with the MAN, Scania, Navistar and VW Caminhoes e Onibus brands is also a little less confident in terms of sales due to the production interruptions due to missing parts and is assuming a strong plus instead of a very strong one. Sales, on the other hand, are likely to be slightly better than previously forecast.

TRATON increased sales in the first quarter by 12 percent to a total of 67,767 vehicles. Sales increased by 30 percent to 8.5 billion euros because the US truck manufacturer Navistar was taken over. Adjusted operating profit fell by 22 percent to 402 million euros. Value adjustments of 47 million euros as a result of the outbreak of war are even excluded.

Without Navistar, however, sales would have fallen by 16 percent and sales by two percent. The situation in Europe continues to be difficult. “The supply bottlenecks with semiconductors have not yet been resolved, and the conflict in Ukraine means that cable harnesses are also missing,” said CEO Christian Levin.

The bottom line, however, is that the profit attributable to the shareholders climbed from 129 million euros a year ago to 422 million euros. In the previous year, the conversion measures at the flagging MAN brand had cost 362 million euros.

Via XETRA, the TRATON share temporarily lost 0.25 percent to EUR 16.11.
