Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner “assumes” national goalkeeper Kevin Trapp will remain at Eintracht Frankfurt despite alleged interest from Manchester United.
However, the Austrian is not entirely sure. Until the end of the transfer on September 1, “everything is possible,” said Glasner at the Sport-Bild-Award in Hamburg, where he walked the red carpet together with Trapp.
“Kicker” and “Bild” had reported on Monday about a possible offer from England, for Trapp himself it was said to be no more than “nice feedback”. He didn’t want to say more about it. Glasner, on the other hand, said meaningfully: “I’m not worried, but I’ve often not worried – and then the player was gone. Like Filip Kostic.” The Serb now plays for Juventus Turin.
Frankfurt’s former CEO Heribert Bruchhagen also “suspects” that Trapp (32), despite all the ties to Eintracht, “must follow the market, because in Manchester more is definitely paid than in Frankfurt”. He himself had “transferred Trapp to Paris Saint-Germain in 2015. That hurt the boy back then, but he had to accept the offer.”
Trapp returned to Frankfurt from France in 2018, won the Europa League with the Hessians last season and thus celebrated the greatest success of his career. He is still under contract with Eintracht until 2024, in Manchester he would have to fight with the Spaniard David de Gea for the regular place in goal. According to “kicker”, United wants to make an offer on Tuesday.
