From April 1, 2022, there will be an exemption from the twv (work permit) requirement for employers who want to employ displaced persons from Ukraine. There is a transition period for displaced persons from Ukraine. During this period, they are given the opportunity to collect the correct documents from the IND, which confirms their status as temporarily displaced. This status gives them, for example, the right to work in the Netherlands. This transitional arrangement currently runs until 31 August. But because it is uncertain whether all displaced persons who want this and who are entitled to these documents can also obtain them from the IND before September 1, this transitional arrangement will be extended until October 31, 2022.
At the moment Ukrainians, or people who legally resided in Ukraine during the outbreak of the war, can request a sticker in their passport from the IND. This sticker is proof that they reside here on the basis of the Temporary Protection Directive and thus have access to, among other things, the labor market. The EU activated that directive on March 4, 2022, which means that people fleeing the conflict in Ukraine will receive protection in the member states of the European Union. It also gives them access to medical care, education and the labor market.
At the moment, a displaced person from Ukraine needs a BSN number to be able to work and from 1 November the sticker (proof of residence) is also mandatory.
