The roundabouts are present in villages, small or large cities and also on the routes. Daily, most drivers circulate through a roundabout. But do you know the regulations? Do you know who has priority? What do you think of other drivers?
To know the knowledge and opinion on the theme, the Cecaitra Observatory, the camera that brings together Argentine companies that produce road software, made a survey in homes of the CABA and Greater Buenos Aires.
In the survey he asked: “Who has a priority of passage to a roundabout without traffic lights?“Thus, 51% correctly indicated that it is the vehicle that circulates inside; 14% replied that they have” the one who arrives first “; 11% said it is” the vehicle that tries to enter “; and the remaining 24% indicated that they did not know the answer.
“Knowing road regulations is an obligation. When processing the driver’s license, drivers must prove that they know the road rules. In the case of roundabouts, if the priority is unknown, it is more feasible that a road accident can be starred. Therefore, we must emphasize that 49% that ignores a regulation as important as this since, a bad maneuver in a roundabout can cause a multiple crash”Said the spokesman of the Cecaitra Road Observatory, Facundo Jaime.
The National Traffic Law in its article 43 establishes that: “If it is a roundabout, the circulation around it will be uninterrupted without arrests and leaving the central non -passable central area of it, to the left. It has a priority of passing that circulates through it on which it tries to enter and must give it to the one who graduates, except signage to the contrary”Therefore, the circular through the roundabouts, is one of the few cases in which the priority of the right is lost.
During the survey, the Road Observatory also wanted to know what drivers see when they approach or travel through a roundabout. Thus, 55% said that “hardly ever“The priority in the roundabout is respected; 15% chose to say that”never”; 18% said that” almost always “drivers were respectful; and only 12% said drivers”always”They respect the priority when entering or circulating through the roundabouts.
Finally, he asked about the causes of road infractions. There, it was consulted how agree they were with the phrase: “The main reason for traffic faults is the ignorance of the rules by drivers”And 78% agreed with the premise: 38% agree and 40% agree.
“It is worrying that for 7 out of 10 drivers, the priorities in the roundabouts are never respected and that for the majority the problem is the ignorance of the road rules. In Cecaitra, we consider that, with attentive, responsible and respectful conductors, the chances of having a safer transit are higher. In addition, we commit ourselves to continue along the path of education and road awareness, to save lives”Jaime concluded.
