Following Ajax, AZ has also published the annual figures from the previous season. The Alkmaarders did make a profit and a big one too; 18.6 million euros. This is partly due to the reduced effects of corona (fewer empty stadiums) and outgoing transfers.
Net turnover (excluding transfers) increased by 11 million euros. Turnover was 22 million in 2020-21 and now 33 million. The increase is partly because only eight matches were played without an audience due to corona. The previous season the number was a lot higher. Player sales also rose sharply last season: 41.4 million euros to 8.2 million.
The transfers of, among others, Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta Bergamo), Calvin Stengs (Nice) and Myron Boadu (Monaco) tapped well. The departed Owen Wijndal (Ajax), Fredrik Midtsjø (Galatasaray), Ferdy Druijf (Rapid Wien), Joris Kramer (NEC) and Aslak Fonn Witry (Ludogorets) do not count yet. These transfers were made after July 1 and will be processed in fiscal year 2022-23.

Positive result
The equity of the Alkmaarders currently amounts to 56.6 million euros. The club also expects to close next financial year with a positive result. This is partly due to the placement for the Conference League, the aforementioned transfers and less impact corona.
