After the unsuccessful start to the season, Hertha BSC signed Jean-Paul Boëtius, as the Berlin Bundesliga club announced. The “image” had previously reported about it. The former FSV Mainz 05 professional signed a contract until 2025.
The attacking midfielder was previously without a club and therefore does not cost a fee after his contract with league rivals Mainz expired last season. The 28-year-old Dutchman had been in Mainz since 2018 and played under current Berlin coach Sandro Schwarz.
“He is a seasoned professional, knows our coach from that time and therefore also the type of football we want to play. It’s a stroke of luck for us to get a player with such skills and this league experience on a free transfer,” said Hertha managing director Fredi Bobic.
