Transfer hammer almost fixed? Ex-BVB star Mario Götze before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt

Two years after his BVB farewell, Mario Götze will probably return to the Bundesliga. The move from the 2014 World Cup final goalscorer to Eintracht Frankfurt is said to be nearing completion.

According to information from “Sport1”, Götze “largely agrees” with the Europa League winner.

The 30-year-old offensive player has not yet signed a contract with the Hessians, it said. However, the SGE supervisory board will meet on Monday to approve the deal. Then it goes completely over the stage.

Götze’s contract with his current employer PSV Eindhoven runs until 2024. However, this should include an exit clause with a comparatively low fixed transfer fee of only four million euros – a real bargain for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt instead of Benfica

Götze will probably not complete the training start in Eindhoven on Monday, according to “Sport1”.

The 63-time national player also decided against an offer from Benfica, the new club of former PSV coach Roger Schmidt.

Instead, Frankfurt’s sports director Markus Krösche met with Götze in Mallorca in the last few days and convinced him of the Eintracht plan.

Mario Götze soon top earner at Eintracht Frankfurt?

Under head coach Oliver Glasner, Götze am Main will play a central role in the future – in the truest sense of the word, namely in his favorite position as a tenth.

Details of Götze’s contract content in Frankfurt have already been leaked. Noisy “Sport1” he should collect a little more than four million euros annual salary. Götze would be the top earner in the Eintracht squad alongside goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.

Most recently, SBU defender Martin Hinteregger had campaigned aggressively for Götze. “In terms of player type, he would be an excellent fit for us. That’s exactly what we need, that’s exactly what we lost with Amin Younes last year. That’s an important building block,” said the Austrian to “Sky”.
