Transfer confirmed
Olympique Lyon strengthened with the 19-year-old Johann Lepenant and announced the transfer fee that is due for the U20 international from second division SM Caen. With bonuses, the young professional could become the second most expensive player signed by OL in his teens. His contract runs until 2027.
Lyon pays 4.25 million euros as a basic fee to Caen, where Lepenant has been trained since 2017. At OL, only Miralem Pjanic, who came from Metz at the age of 18 in 2007, and Lenny Pintor (Stade Brest), who was the same age in 2018, were brought in as teenagers with higher fees. Caen can also expect bonus payments from “Les Gones” for the homegrown team, which, according to OL information, would require a further 2.5 million euros and would put Lepenant in second place behind Pjanic. In the event of a resale, Olympique must also pass on ten percent of the profit to Caen.
