The German team around Matthias Pfleiderer and Fabian Vogel is currently unbeatable on the trampoline. At the World Championships in Sofia, the two won gold ahead of Abreu/Ferreira from Portugal and Riou/Gouzou from France.

Matthias Pfleiderer (MTV Stuttgart) and Fabian Vogel (MTV Bad Kreuznach) won the gold medal at the Trampoline World Championships in Sofia. After her victory at the European Championships earlier this year in Rimini the two DTB representatives were also unbeatable in the synchronous final of the title fights in the Bulgarian capital.

“I can’t believe it,” Vogel said after the win. “Despite the European Championship gold, we actually drove here without any pressure and showed in every round that we can do it. It’s great that we harmonize with each other and can rely on each other so well. It’s a lot of fun.”

Pfleiderer and Vogel prevail over a duo from Portugal and France

In the final, Pfleiderer and Vogel started fourth and took the lead in the field with 50.95 points. But until success was really certain, we had to wait. Because after Pfleiderer/Vogel there were four more pairs.

The two Portuguese Diogo Abreu and Pedro Ferreira came within five hundredths of the last year’s two runners-up, but no duo could get past them. The French Florestan Riou and Pierre Gouzou, who were the only ones better than the two Germans in the semifinals, were third with 49.830 points.

Sports Director Gutekunst: “On the right track to the Olympic Games in Paris”

In the Olympic individual competition, Fabian Vogel from Bad Kreuznach took tenth place, eleventh was Leonie Adam from Stuttgart. “We have shown that we are on the right track to the Olympic Games in Paris,” said Thomas Gutekunst, Sports Director of the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB).
