A striking image: Wouter Beke resigned with his wife Leen Desmyter and his youngest daughter Nette by his side. At the end of his speech they gave him an orange sweater with the text ‘Nothing to prove’ on it. It is not the first time that Desmyter stands up for her husband so explicitly. “I thought it was so unfair that they kept attacking him,” she said in our newspaper last year. “People don’t see how hard Wouter has to fight to get something done, how many paths he has to walk before he can come to a decision.”
