Serious accident in Berlin-Wedding. A Mercedes station wagon collided with a tram. Miraculously no one was injured.

The crash happened on Friday evening around 7:50 p.m. on Seestrasse. The driver of a Mercedes station wagon drove into the tram near Müllerstrasse. The Mercedes with the family and small children on board was trapped between a catenary mast and the train, which weighed several tons.

The family was able to free themselves from the car. The tram driver and passengers also remained uninjured. The impact was so violent that the tram derailed.

The BVG and the fire department are currently busy recovering the vehicles. Seestrasse is completely closed to traffic heading into the city, and there are also traffic disruptions heading out of town. A traffic crime commissioner is investigating.

It was the second serious accident involving a tram on Friday. A person was hit by a tram on Landsberger Allee in Friedrichshain around 5 p.m. and was seriously injured.
