The MBO course Safety & Craftsmanship (VEVA) will play a greater role in the structure of the armed forces in the coming years. Defense and 21 ROCs confirm this. Compared to a year ago, the number of registrations has increased by 7%.
This school year, around 2300 students signed up for the Safety & Craftsmanship (VEVA) course. He prepares them for a job within the armed forces. Around 950 young people move on to a military function as a soldier, sailor, marine, corporal or non -commissioned officer.
The training is an important breeding ground for defense. More than 4 in 10 soldiers who are younger than 35 have a VEVA background.
But that number is even higher, says State Secretary Gijs Tuinman. “With the ambition to grow to 100,000 people in 2030, it is essential that we strengthen the inflow routes.” According to him, training places must be further expanded. The connection with ROCs can also be even better.
Other programs
In addition to VEVA, there are various other programs that young people can get acquainted with Defense. Think of the year, national resilience training, Defensity College and social service.
