Training like a pro in Grolloo: ‘A talent would be nice’

The training is mainly intended to keep young people moving. “And not so much to scout talent,” Wolters emphasizes. “Although it is always a bonus if there is a talent among them.”

11-year-old Luuk hints that it is a bit more fanatic than an average SGO training. “It’s a lot of fun, but it takes a long time.”

Markwin Jagt agrees. From the SGO board he is the driving force behind the two training days. “Usually the youth train here for an hour, maybe an hour and a half. This morning they have already trained for more than two hours and after lunch they will go again for another hour.”

SGO, which no longer has a senior team, is happy with the good turnout from the youth. “We see that things are going well in the youth,” says Jagt. “For a small village like Grolloo we have quite a few youth teams.”

Jagt calls FC Groningen’s project ‘beautiful’. “We are happy to lend our fields for that.”
