FC Volendam will play a crucial match on Sunday. The relegation cracker with SC Cambuur awaits in Leeuwarden. Winter acquisition Florent Sanchez Da Silva trained fully today in preparation for the race. “He’s ready to play, so why shouldn’t we use him?” said trainer Wim Jonk.
With only six points, FC Volendam can be found in last place in the Eredivisie. SC Cambuur is one place higher in the ranking and has eight points. Jonk: “It is an extremely important match for both teams. It is about us playing our own game. Anything can happen. We have to anticipate that during the match.”
Henk Veerman back again
Daryl van Mieghem was missing from the training field today. He is at home with flu symptoms. Gaetano Oristanio trained separately from the group. The midfielder did some running work for himself, but seems to be coming to Leeuwarden on Sunday. Henk Veerman is back. The striker was absent in the exhibition match against NAC Breda due to illness.
Earlier this week it was announced that the selection of FC Volendam has been strengthened with Florent Sanchez Da Silva. The Frenchman (19) comes over on a rental basis from Olympique Lyonnais. There is a good chance that the midfielder will make his basic debut on Sunday. “He has a lot of rest in the field and screams football. He will need some time to adjust. He has only been here for a week, but he is a great player to work with.”
FC Volendam and SC Cambuur will start the relegation match on Sunday afternoon at 2.30 pm.
