Trainer Alfred Schreuder has lost anger: “You don’t want to do that too often”

He wanted to protect his team and was more than tired of what he believed to be false allegations. This afternoon Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder faced the press again for the first time, after he had gone out of his mind on Sunday evening. “I wanted to protect my team,” says Schreuder at the press conference in the run-up to tomorrow’s away game against RKC Waalwijk.

Schreuder also responded to the Telegraaf report this afternoon, stating that Danny Blind would actually be the boss at Ajax. “I don’t think that is the case. Danny Blind is assistant national coach of the Dutch national team and Edwin van der Sar is director.”

It was hardly about the match in Waalwijk. Schreuder reported that Devyne Rensch is almost certainly unable to play and that Kenneth Taylor and Ahmetcan Kaplan are not yet available due to injuries. They are expected to rejoin next week.

Of course Ajax owes it to its position to beat RKC, although Schreuder realizes that the team of coach Joseph Oosting also made it very difficult for PSV and Feyenoord.

RKC Waalwijk – Ajax starts tomorrow evening at 6.45 pm.
