It is May 23, 2019, ‘a bit of a spring day’, when the then 19-year-old Saar jumps on her bike to her internship just before seven. For some time now she has been participating in the night shelter of De Tussenregeling on Maliebaan in Utrecht. She thinks it’s a great internship. A place where people walk around with a lot of suffering – ‘people who would rather be somewhere else’ – but also a place where there is a lot of laughter. Her colleagues are nice, and the Social Work student is increasingly realizing that she finds it interesting to work with this target group.
