There were no trains between Beilen and Assen for some time due to several roadside fires. Train traffic on the route was resumed around 7:30 p.m.
The roadside fires were in the vicinity of Hendrik van Boeijenlaan in Assen and were allegedly caused by sparks from a freight train with jammed brakes. The fire brigade extinguished the fires.
