The derailment of a regional train in southern Germany has left one dead and many injured, local media report. The train ran off the rails just north of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, about 75 kilometers southwest of Munich.

Police and fire brigade have been deployed on a large scale to provide assistance. Media also speak of serious injuries. Among other things, action is being taken to remove victims from the derailed wagons.
It is not yet known how many people were on the double-decker train or how many were injured. The cause of the derailment is not yet known.
