Train at Weesp station stopped by police because of firearms report

A train traveling in the direction of Amsterdam was stopped by the police at Weesp station. A police spokesperson informs AT5 that officers have received a report of a man who may have a firearm with him. An arrest team is on site to investigate whether this is actually the case.

“I’m stuck at Weesp. We had to get off the train urgently and there’s all the police,” a train passenger said via Twitter. Another traveler also tweeted that they have been put off the train and must wait until the police have completed their investigation. It is unclear how long it will take before the train can resume its journey.

The NS says that due to the efforts of the police, there are currently no sprinters running between Hoofdorp and Hilversum, nor between Hoofddorp and Oostvaarders. Both train journeys pass through station Weesp. The additional travel time is approximately one hour.
