Trail of destruction through Boesingheliede and Zwanenburg: dozens of cars damaged

The weekend started with a big downer for dozens of car owners from Boesingheliede and Zwanenburg (Haarlemmermeer). Their cars were damaged or broken into last night, and some of their personal belongings were also stolen.

It is not yet known how many cars were damaged or broken into. “We expect to receive reports and reports today and tomorrow,” said a police spokesperson. “We therefore think we will have a more complete picture after the weekend.”

Neighborhood officer Andy Knaap, who tweeted about the vandalism earlier today, informed NH Nieuws that at least 25 cars were destroyed on Schipholweg in Boesingheliede. The police spokesperson confirmed that number.

No one arrested yet

“We were also busy last night with a destruction of and a burglary of a car in Zwanenburg,” the spokesperson continues. That car was parked on Kerkhoflaan. “We suspect that several vandalism has also been committed there, but we have not found any perpetrators.”

A car dealer located on Kerkhoflaan says that he heard from a neighbor this morning that his mirror had also flipped. His cars have not been known to have been targeted. “But I’m going to have a look.”

Nothing is known yet about the nature of the vandalism, although the photo of local police officer Knaap shows a smashed window. Because Boesingheliede and Zwanenburg are located next to each other, the police take into account a connection between the vandalism in the two places.
