The Texans of …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead need support. on Gofundme.com the band is asking their fans to give them financial support for their European tour, which starts at the end of September. Because of rising petrol prices and the fact that ticket sales are still faltering due to the pandemic, you would otherwise make big losses. The band has set a target of $12,000 for the campaign.
“We’ve never asked you (our friends, family and fans) to support a tour before…but we could really use it this time,” the band wrote in a statement. “There is nothing we love more than playing for you, our audience. No matter how difficult it gets to play music for people, it’s all worth it to us. But touring costs money. Today more than ever.”
“The majority of bands make losses on tour”
Otherwise, the group around Conrad Keely and Jason Reece is more known for a subtle dose of megalomania, it was not uncommon for them to be on stage with two drummers at the same time. Now, however, the band is unusually serious: “While it pains me to take people’s romantic notions about the decadent lifestyle of rock bands on tour, the truth is that a large majority of the band pays to tour.”
Even one is used to making losses on tours. This time, however, they would be unusually large with an expected drop of $30,000. That’s why you need the support of the fans. Apparently they’re willing to lend a hand to Trail of Dead: at the time of writing, donations had already reached $5,000.
The band also complained that their last German label Inside Out hardly supported them. You had to take care of all the marketing for the European tour yourself. Trail of Dead released their ninth album XI: Bleed Here Now on Inside Out in July.
