Men who took a passerby’s scooter at gunpoint in Hilversum on April 20, shortly before left huge wads of money on the track. Their suspected getaway car, which was still parked on the cycle path, was also full of bills. The police are releasing these details in the hope of catching the suspected scooter rider.
On the Thursday afternoon in question, several witnesses saw three men aged around 18 and 20 crossing the Noorderweg in Hilversum from the Johannes Gerardtsweg. According to the testimonies, they do this at quite a fast speed in a blue Chevrolet.
They ride along the track onto the cycle path. Two of the three then wear a balaclava. They jump out of the car and run onto the track with three bags on their shoulders. Various wads of money fall from those bags – on and around the track. There is also a lot of ransom in the still rumbling car left behind.
The men continue walking along the track towards Hilversum station. A 47-year-old scooter rider sees the two men approaching from a distance, while one of them puts on a balaclava and turns around. The man has to give up his scooter at gunpoint. This all happens on the cycle path on the center side of the station.
This incident was also central to the first broadcast of Bureau NH.

Following this incident, the police sought the help of the public. That has not yet led to the resolution of this case. The investigation has continued in recent weeks and the police hope to be able to track down the passenger on the scooter by sharing information and new images. The man who ran away on foot has also not yet been caught. The man sitting in the front of the scooter has been recognized.
‘Huge amounts of cash’
The details shared by the police are mainly about what happened prior to the scooter theft. Because officers who then remove the remaining car from the cycle path find several packs of money both in the car and on the track.

The photos above show a stolen vehicle. This is most likely the perpetrators’ getaway car, containing “enormous amounts of cash”, according to the police.
The co-driver is said to be around 20 years old, has a light skin color and is also quite small, less than 1.75 m. The scooter has also not been found yet. The police would like to get in touch with anyone who knows who this man is or who can provide more information.
