Czech media have revealed new details about the death of ice hockey legend Roman Cechmanek Blesk and Expres made news.
The Czech Ice Hockey Federation announced the sudden death of 52-year-old Cechmanek on Sunday in the middle of the Karelia tournament.
Then CTK website said that the ex-goalkeeper did not suffer from any illness. He had been supposed to go watch hockey with his sons, but had been sick.
According to Blesk, Cechmanek’s son Roma found his father lifeless in a rented apartment in the small municipality of Všemina.
The hockey legend worked as a coach in the Uherske Hradisten team. He had already written the next week’s program in his notebook, but never had time to implement it.
On Sunday, Cechmanek did not respond to messages at all, when he should have left with his children in the nearby town of Koprivnice. Even the Facebook messages didn’t reach him.
Expres writes that Cechmanek had severe financial difficulties in his fifties, even though he played four seasons in the NHL. His debts were dealt with in court.
The Czech star had also recently divorced his wife, and his son is seriously ill.
Cechmanek himself is said to have had problems with his hand, and he treated the ailments with various spikes.
