President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev listed “extremely important points” to which attention should be paid when investigating the reasons riots in the republic… At a meeting of the Mazhilis on January 11, Tokayev spoke about the creation of a special investigation group. A team of highly qualified professionals must reveal all the details and causes of the tragedy.
Earlier it was reported that in early January, riots broke out in Kazakhstan amid protests due to a two-fold increase in gas prices.
Tokayev considers it necessary to find out why “the state overslept” the presence of the sleeping cells of the militants? Where did so many illegal weapons come from in the republic? Why was there no undercover work to identify and neutralize terrorist agents? The head of Kazakhstan stressed that all the militants and their accomplices must be found and punished. It is also “critically important” to understand who is behind the terrorist attacks.
The National Bank of Kazakhstan was instructed to ensure the verification and control of all transactions and persons who unreasonably withdraw funds abroad. In addition, the government will develop and adopt a program to increase the incomes of the population in two months, develop and adopt the Social Code.
Tokayev appealed to the large companies that ex-President Nursultan Nazarbayev had attracted to the country to “pay tribute to the people of Kazakhstan” and help them on a systematic and regular basis.
