Traffic quarrel in Lelystad gets completely out of hand: cyclist severely mistreated | Lelystad

What started Monday morning as a traffic quarrel in Lelystad, ended with an ambulance ride. A cyclist was severely beaten. The alleged perpetrator, a motorist, is currently in custody.

It all started around 9.45 am on the Middenweg, when the motorist did not give way to the man on the bicycle. The cyclist, a 46-year-old resident of Lelystad, in turn spat at the car. The driver did not let it go and a fight ensued.

The motorist dealt a number of striking blows, which left the cyclist with a black eye and broken nose. The Lelystad resident was taken to hospital for a check-up. The police speak of a ‘grievous assault’.

Suspicious

A little further on, at De Stelling 14, the driver of the car was arrested. It turned out to be a 25-year-old man from Amsterdam. He is still in custody and will be heard soon. The Public Prosecutor determines the final sentence.
