The traffic jams in and around Amsterdam have almost all been resolved. It has been stuck on the A10, A9 and A5 ring roads since the end of the afternoon. This had everything to do with the bad weather and the fact that it gets dark so early, according to an ANWB spokesperson.
Wednesday is normally not the busiest day of the week, says an ANWB spokesperson. But still there were huge ones long traffic jams around Amsterdam, up to 43 kilometers of traffic jam in total. Several accidents in combination with bad weather caused the exceptional crowds. “Many more people take the car in this weather,” said the ANWB.
Extremely busy
Because drivers take different routes during heavy traffic, many N-roads around Amsterdam were also closed.
