Traffic signs and place name signs in the municipality of Emmen are quite popular. In fact, it is looted property, says councilor Marcel Poelman (Wakker Emmen). He raised this during the committee meeting of the municipality of Emmen.
According to Poelman, thieves made off with two signs from the village of Nieuw-Weerdinge. Traffic signs regularly disappear here and there, which can lead to potentially dangerous situations, according to the council member.
Alderman René van der Weide recognizes the problem and says that the missing signs will be replaced as soon as possible. However, the delivery times can increase, so it sometimes takes a while before new copies are placed.
