The polling station in Castricum has traditionally opened as the first polling station in the Netherlands. The polling station opposite the station will open exactly at midnight tonight.
For several years now, the municipality of Castricum has been offering residents the opportunity to vote very early during the elections. This year with the Provincial States and Water Board elections is no different.
The first voter
Arno Reekers was the first to use the red pencil in the Netherlands in the past two national elections. “It’s not a competition, but I always think this is a nice initiative. They always make it a party here in Castricum,” he told NH Nieuws during the previous elections. It is not surprising that Reekers is so quick every time, because he lives very close to the polling station.
At the Garden of Captain Rommel you can vote this year in Castricum. The polling station is always only open for an hour. The polling station will open again in the morning at 7:30 am. You can vote all day until 8 p.m.
