The Westfriese Beursvloer had a successful thirteenth edition. After two online editions, it was finally possible again for the companies to meet in person. During the fair, non-profit organizations and socially engaged companies come together to trade without money and the According to organizer Nancy Alders, the dynamics that are released are great.
61 non-profit organizations attempt to trade with companies in these editions. The rules of the game do not allow money to be used. Kai Bosman and Delvina Uijlere are participating on behalf of the organization dnoDoen. “We take care of families, and that includes children. This year we are going to try to arrange for a company to make the backyard child-friendly,” says Kai.
It’s his first time and he’s not quite sure what to expect. “It’s a bit exciting though,” Kai says. Upon entering the exhibition floor, a ribbon hangs between the non-profit organizations and ‘regular’ companies, so that trade can just be started.
Quest
After a short search, Kai notices that it is difficult because many people are already talking. He and Delvina divorce to increase the odds. After less than half an hour, Kai is convinced that a company wants to come and see what the garden looks like and what they can do for dnoDoen. When he shares the news with Delvina, it turns out that she has a bite too.
“I spoke to someone and toys are coming for the kids,” Delvina says. An enthusiastic Kai reports that the number one and two of their list is settled. “Now we go for extras”, Kai exclaims enthusiastically.
They find these extras at another volunteer organization that they do want to help with giving excursions in nature. “That way the children can get out once,” says Kai.
He looks back on a very successful day. “We have achieved more than what we had come for in advance. It also went easier than expected”, says a very satisfied Kai.
