The German water polo players won their last game at the World Championships in Hungary and ended the tournament in 13th place.

The team of national coach Petar Porobic defeated Kazakhstan 16:7 (4:2, 4:2, 3:1, 5:2) in the final placing game. It was the worst German World Cup placement since 2001, when they finished 14th in Fukuoka, Japan.

The heavily remodeled team had lost their three games against Japan, Croatia and Greece in the group stage. Then there was a 10:9 win against Brazil. At the World Cup there were nine players in the German squad of 13 who had never been to a World Cup or European Championship.

The next goal of the season for the DSV selection is the European Championship, which will be held from August 29th to September 10th in Split, Croatia.
