Tournament in England | Two more corona cases at the women’s European Football Championship

The Netherlands and Italy have to do without players for the time being because of positive corona tests at the Women’s Football Championship.

Midfielder Jackie Groenen has tested positive for the virus, the Dutch Football Association said on Twitter. If the 27-year-old is free of symptoms and tested negative, she can be used again in the tournament. Groenen had played 90 minutes in the 1-1 (0-1) draw of the Netherlands against Sweden on Saturday evening.

The Italian team will be missing 31-year-old Valentina Cernoia at least for the start of the European Championship on Sunday against France, also because of a positive corona test, as the Italian Football Association announced. There were already two Corona cases in the Austrian national team. Laura Wienroither and Lisa Kolb had tested positive for the virus.
