Tour of Slovenia: First victory for Tour champion Pogacar after around three months

As of: 06/17/2022 4:33 p.m

Two weeks before the start of the Tour de France, defending champion Tadej Pogacar reported back with his first win after around three months.

The 23-year-old cyclist won the third stage of the Tour of Slovenia in his home country and thus also took the overall lead. The race, which ends in Novo Mesto on Sunday, is also the tour dress rehearsal for Pogacar, who won on Friday after 144.6 kilometers ahead of his Polish teammate Rafal Majka.

But there were also corona concerns in Pogacar’s UAE team. The Danish teammate Mikkel Bjerg tested positive in the race. As a precaution, his Norwegian roommate Vegard Stake Laengen also had to leave.

Pogacar celebrated the last victory by winning the Tirreno-Adriatico tour on March 13th.
