Tour Down Under: Kanter and Bauhaus have to wait

The German professional cyclists Max Kanter and Phil Bauhaus took part in the Tour Down Under once again clearly missed their first win of the year. But both ended up in the top ten.

Kanter from Team Astana Qazaqstan completed the largely flat 136.2 kilometers Murray Bridge after Port Elliot in seventh place and ended up in the top ten for the fourth time on the fourth stage. Bauhaus from Team Bahrain Victorious came in ninth place in the mass sprint.

Welsford wins again

In Down Under The German racing team Bora-hansgrohe dominates with its sprinter Sam Welsford. The Australian won his third leg on his 28th birthday on Friday (January 19, 2024).

Del Toro further ahead

The 20-year-old Mexican Isaac del Toro (UAE Emirates), who won the second stage, continues to lead the overall standings. The best German is Georg Zimmermann (Intermarche-Wanty) in eighth place, eight seconds behind. The fifth and penultimate stage runs over 129.3 kilometers on Saturday Christie’s Beach after Willunga Hill and ends with a short, crisp final climb.
