Road world champion Remco Evenepoel wants to see the route profiles first before deciding whether to compete in the 2023 Tour de France or Giro d’Italia.
“We will take a close look at the route, the profiles and the time trials,” said the 22-year-old Belgian, who had already won the Vuelta in Spain before his World Cup triumph in Australia: “Only when we have all this information can we we decide which race we will race.”
Evenepoel said he was “very surprised” by reports that he might soon be leaving his Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl team and switching to Ineos. I still have three years of contract,” he said: “I trust my teammates and they trust me. I have no reason to leave the team.”
The route profile of the 2023 Giro d’Italia will be presented on October 17th, followed by the Tour de France ten days later.
