Four-time overall winner Chris Froome is on the starting line of the Tour de France, which begins on July 1st. The Brit was called up to the eight-man squad of the Israel-PremierTech racing team.
There was a big question mark behind the participation of the 37-year-old cycling star after he got out of the Dauphiné tour. For Froome it is the tenth tour participation.
Froome has won the Tour in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017. However, he has never recovered to his former level since his terrible fall just before the 2019 Tour, when he suffered numerous broken bones.
The captain of the Israel team should be the Dane Jakob Fuglsang, who was in good form at the Tour de Suisse. Cologne’s Rick Zabel didn’t make it into the eight-man squad.
