Jasper Philipsen won the fourth stage of the Tour de France number 110, 182 kilometers starting from Dax and finishing at the Nogaro motor circuit. The 25-year-old Belgian of Alpecin-Deceuninck, therefore gave an encore after the success of the day before in Bayonne and was once again piloted splendidly by Mathieu Van der Poel. For Philipsen this is the 4th success on the Tour, 31st in his career, ahead of the Australian of Lotto-Dstny Caleb Ewan, with the German Bauhaus of Bahrain-Victorious, in third place. Then, behind them in order: Coquard, Cavendish, Van Poppel, Kristoff, Mezgec, Van Aert, Pedersen and Strong. Among other things, Philipsen’s Alpecin-Deceuninck is in an open series of 8 consecutive grand tours with at least one stage win.

falls

There have been no significant changes in the general classification and therefore Adam Yates, the 30-year-old British UAE-Emirates rider who won the first stage in Bilbao on Saturday, is still in the yellow jersey. In order to avoid dangers, the reigning champion Jonas Vingegaard practically always stayed in the top positions, while a fall already inside the circuit caused Jacopo Guarnieri to fall (collarbone fracture) and Fabio Jakobsen. There were several falls within the final motor circuit.

now the pyrenees

On Wednesday we continue with the fifth stage, the first in the Pyrenees: 162 kilometers from Pau to Laruns. There is no uphill finish but the Col du Soudet is climbed (15.2 km at 7%); the Col d’Ichere (4.2km at 6.2%); the Col de Marie Blanque (7.8km at 8.4%). The Tour de France will conclude on Sunday 23 July in Paris.
