With fourteen matches left to play, FC Volendam is not in a good position in the Premier League. Relegation threatens at the end of the season. Trainer Regillio Simons is optimistic in De Kick-off and firmly believes in enforcement. “It is important that we can show things offensively, because we do have those qualities,” he says tonight in the NH Sport football talk show.
On Sunday at 4:45 p.m., number seventeen in the rankings will play against leader PSV on their own field. This happens without the injured Xavier Mbuyamba and Calvin Twigt.
It seems that FC Volendam does not intend to park the bus in front of their own goal, as they did earlier against Feyenoord. “I’m not going to give too much away yet,” Simons answers with a laugh when asked whether Volendam will mainly defend.
“We want to create more ball possession and chances”
“We want to play more and more dominantly and the intention is to play more attacking football. We want to have more ball possession and create opportunities. But it is important that we have our defense in order.”
Simons expects to need 32 points this season to play safely. This means that his team must get 20 points in the remaining matches. After Sunday, FC Volendam will play against Vitesse in Arnhem. Both clubs currently share last place in the Premier League.
Naturally, the broadcast will discuss the dismissal of Telstar coach Mike Snoei, AZ’s cup defeat in De Kuip and FC Volendam’s arbitration case against former coaches Matthias Kohler and Wim Jonk.
Resignation Snoei
About Snoei’s dismissal, the other table guest, André Stuijt, says: “It is mainly that a new dynamic is created with the group of players. They have to let go of old hurts and start again. You hope that things will go well,” said the former defender of FC Volendam.
In the Kratje Trap section, football club Succes tries to knock VVH/Velserbroek off first place. Of course you can still register your team to participate. Then send an email to [email protected].
